Houston Quilt Market 2011

Wow, I went to my first Quilt Market yesterday and wow is the first word that comes to mind. I was expecting a lot of stuff and information but it was sensory overload in a good way. I started off with the ShopHop by Aurfil and that really gave a great overview of the entire market since you had to visit over 20 vendors. The vendors were the small designers that a lot of people may not know and they had some really interesting designs and beautiful work on display.

I am not a big purse or bag person but I really liked the work of Paradiso Designs she had some really beautifully designed purses and bags. She gave me a link to her website when she has put the design for her Cross-Body Bag up for free download. Well I went last night and again it was great not only is it the pattern it is a tutorial with pictures and everything. It can be downloaded here by clicking on free pattern at  www.paradisodesigns.com.

I got to meet several of my favorite designers like Patrick Lose (www.patricklose.net), Ricky Tims (www.rickytims.com), Mary Fons (www.heyquilty.com), Julie from Patchabilities (http://www.patchabilities.com), Eleanore Burns (http://www.quiltinaday.com), and Carol Doak (www.caroldoak.com). I also meet Debbie Lutrell from Stitchin Heaven in Quitman and a friend from the Quilt Room and my Peace By Piecing Quilt Guild, Sandy Malone. All in all it was a great day and I am ready for Festival next week. I will be meeting up with several friends from the Carol Doak Yahoo Group on Thursday for dinner with Carol. I am stoked and ready to sew.
